Ergonomic Task Chair Reviews from Real Customers

I needed a new task chair for my home office because I took my other task chair to work. I looked at a couple of chairs and this one fit my needs. It was a adjustable lower lumbar support that that pushed out depending on the curve of your back and it has the capability to put your feet up if you want to put your feet up while your working.

I'm 5ft 3", 110 lbs. The chair can be adjusted to fit my size. I love the leg rest (yes my feet hang over the edge, but it's way better than having them bend handing down), and the tray is a convenient way to recline the chair and still be able to access my keyboard/mouse. I've been sitting in the chair for non-work tasks too, like reading and videos, because it is comfortable and provides support in all the right areas.

First off there is no one size fits all ergonomic chair and I've sat in plenty from high dollar leather to low end plastic task chairs, I'd say this one is of the higher tier. I'm 6'2 230 LBS with longer legs and the chair hits all the right spots in terms of lumbar/back and height. The lumbar support spring is a nice adjustment missing on most other chairs (it has two locking positions as well), the width of the back is pretty good except for if you like stretching wide right/left, then you may feel the frame depending on your body size.
FAQs
Get answers about ergonomic task chairs, including comfort, lumbar support, adjustability, body fit, and workspace setup.
What is a task chair?
A task chair is a desk chair designed for focused activities such as computer work, studying, and everyday office tasks. Most task chairs use a swivel base, caster wheels, and adjustable seat height. An ergonomic task chair may also include lumbar support, adjustable armrests, recline controls, or a breathable mesh back.
NEWTRAL offers adjustable task chairs with different combinations of Auto-Following Lumbar Support, armrests, headrests, footrests, and multi-position seating. Features vary by model.
What's the difference between a task chair and an office chair?
When comparing a task chair vs. an office chair, a task chair usually refers to a chair built for active desk work, while an office chair is a broader category that also includes executive, conference, and reception seating. Task chairs often prioritize movement, adjustment, and a compact working footprint.
NEWTRAL ergonomic task chairs add features such as dynamic lumbar support, adjustable armrests, reclining functions, and flexible seating options for different work styles.
What is the best ergonomic task chair for long hours?
The best ergonomic task chair for long hours is one that fits your body and desk rather than simply having the most features. Look for adjustable seat height, suitable seat depth, a supportive backrest, and armrests that align with your desk. A task chair with adjustable lumbar support can also provide more consistent lower-back support as you change positions.
Select NEWTRAL models add recline, headrests, footrests, or Auto-Following Lumbar Support for different work and sitting preferences.
Are there good task chairs for short people?
Yes! Seat depth matters most for shorter users — if it's too deep, the front edge presses into the back of your knees, pushing you forward and away from the lumbar support.
Newtral chairs solve this with patented Auto-Following Lumbar Support that tracks your spine's movement for continuous lower back support, plus adjustable seat depth, seat height, and 4D armrests — comfortably fitting users from 5'0" to 6'3".
Is mesh task chair better for all-day office work?
A mesh task chair offers better airflow and can improve comfort during long hours of work. Newtral combines breathable materials with ergonomic support to provide lasting comfort and support.
Should I choose an armless task chair or task chair with arms?
It depends on your working style. Armless chairs offer more freedom of movement, while adjustable armrests provide extra support for your arms and shoulders during long work sessions.
Can I use a task chair with a standing desk?
A standard seated task chair is usually too low for working at standing desk height. For a sit-stand workstation, choose a task chair designed for a standing desk or a leaning chair built for elevated support.
NEWTRAL Standing-Mate is the collection’s dedicated option for standing and leaning work.
